Licensing

HEROS is an open source community product, which allows individuals and organisations to use and develop HEROS however they need. The HEROS Software source-code is licenced under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence (GPL) v.3. This is a copyleft licence which requires modified and/or redistributed copies of the source-code to contain original copyright information as found in the licence header for each software component source-code file. Furthermore, this licence requires that subsequent versions and modifications of the source-code are released under the same licence with no additional restrictions imposed.

Users and developers of the HEROS Software should make all modified versions of any component’s source-code available to the HEROS Development Group free of charge to enrich the development of the community and the software itself. Working together as a community of users and developers we can ensure the robustness and longevity of the software and provides a flexible solution to developing the system to meet future needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
